Frequently asked questions

Do I actually need a cookie banner?

If your site sets analytics or marketing cookies and people from the EU, UK, California, India, Brazil or dozens of other regions can reach it, some privacy law almost certainly applies. Run the free scan above to see exactly what your site sets before consent.

Which privacy laws does One Privacy cover?

One Privacy covers GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, DPDP, LGPD, PIPEDA, VCDPA, CTDPA, CPA, UCPA, nFADP, POPIA, PDPA, PDPL, DPA, Privacy Act. You choose which regions to target, and each visitor sees the banner their local law expects.

Do I need a developer to set it up?

One Privacy is a single script tag, so it drops into WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and anywhere else you can paste a script. If you use Google Tag Manager, we do that part of the setup with you.

Will switching break my analytics or Consent Mode setup?

It should not. Consent state is set before your tag manager loads and forwarded to Google Consent Mode v2 on every decision, and we check that with you during setup. Most people install the script, run a scan, check the categories, then pull the old snippet.

Will it slow my website down?

No. The install tag is a 2 KB loader that sets consent defaults immediately, then pulls the banner, about 60 KB compressed, from a CDN as a deferred module script. Deferred scripts never block your page from rendering, so your content paints at the same speed with or without it.

Is the free plan actually free?

Yes, for good, and no card. The limits are page views and scan count, not a countdown. Every paid price is public on the pricing page, with no quote process and no sales call.

What happens if I go over my page views?

Nothing breaks the moment you cross the limit. We email you as you approach it and again when you reach it, and your banner keeps serving through a grace window of extra page views. Only if you pass the grace window without upgrading does the widget pause until the next billing period.

Can I prove a visitor gave consent?

Yes. Every decision is stored in an auditable consent log with the banner version and template the visitor saw. You can look up any visitor ID and export the history as a CSV when someone asks for proof.

Can I remove the One Privacy branding from the banner?

On the Business plan, yes. Every other plan keeps a small attribution on the banner.
